Use this free guide to plan a couple’s study, small group, or church viewing of the Your Marriage God’s Way Conference. It follows the six video sessions and helps you make time to apply what you learn. Use the discussion questions already provided in the conference handout.

Before you begin
- Download the free conference handout. Each person should have a copy, a Bible, and a pen. The course also contains individual session PDFs.
- Watch the Welcome and Instructions lesson before your first meeting. Read its guidance on listening, prayer, applying Scripture, apologizing, and forgiveness.
- Choose a regular time and place. One session a week gives you time to practice what you learn. You can also spread a session across two meetings.
- For group viewing, choose the appropriate small-group or church license on the course page. Review the license options before enrolling.
- Test the video, sound, and screen before participants arrive. Ask couples to bring their handouts each week. Printed books and workbooks are optional supplements to this video study.
Choose a meeting format
Watch together: allow about 90 minutes. Begin with 5 minutes of welcome and prayer, watch the session (approximately 33–55 minutes), and use the remaining time for discussion, private couple conversation, and prayer. Longer sessions leave about 30 minutes for application. Pause when needed or finish the discussion at home.
Watch beforehand: meet for 60 minutes. Ask participants to watch that week’s video and answer the handout questions before the meeting. Allow 5 minutes to welcome and pray, 10 minutes to review Scripture and the main lesson, 20 minutes for selected group questions, 15 minutes for private couple conversation, and 10 minutes for next steps and prayer.
The six-session schedule
1. Consequences of the Fall for Husbands and Wives
Video: approximately 53 minutes. Optional book reading: chapters 1, 2, and 6.
Notice how sin affects your own responses in marriage. Use the handout to identify one pattern you need to bring before the Lord.
Practice this week: Each spouse privately completes: “This week, I will take responsibility for…”
2. Husbands, Love Your Wives
Video: approximately 50 minutes. Optional book reading: chapters 9 and 11.
Discuss the session’s teaching on sacrificial love, spiritual care, and priorities. Give each spouse time to speak without interruption.
Practice this week: Ask: “What is one practical way I could help you feel loved this week?” Listen, then choose a specific action.
3. Wives, Submit to Your Husbands
Video: approximately 55 minutes. Optional book reading: chapters 13, 14, 15, and 18.
Work through the Scripture and definitions in the session before discussing application. Keep the conversation focused on each person’s own responsibilities.
Practice this week: Each spouse identifies one way to respond to the Lord’s instruction with humility this week.
4. How Husbands Should Treat Their Wives
Video: approximately 51 minutes. Optional book reading: chapters 19 and 21.
Use the handout’s questions to discuss understanding, care, and honor in everyday life.
Practice this week: Ask your spouse about a burden you may have overlooked. Agree on one concrete way to help.
5. Wives, Respect Your Husbands
Video: approximately 47 minutes. Optional book reading: chapter 12.
Discuss how respect is expressed through words and actions. Invite examples without turning the conversation into a list of complaints.
Practice this week: Ask: “When do you feel respected by me?” Choose one way to show that respect during the coming week.
6. A Biblical View of Sex — optional group session
Video: approximately 33 minutes. Optional book reading: chapter 20.
Let couples know the topic in advance. Leaders may assign this session for private viewing at home. Keep personal intimacy questions between spouses.
Practice this week: Set aside private time for the handout questions and prayer. Participants do not need to report personal details to the group.
Lead a helpful conversation
- Choose a few handout questions ahead of time. You do not need to finish every question during the meeting.
- Ask participants to speak about their own responses and choices. Do not ask anyone to criticize a spouse publicly.
- Let participants pass on a question. Keep private couple conversations private, and obtain permission before sharing someone’s story.
- Allow time to listen. When a question needs more care than a group discussion can provide, offer a separate conversation with an appropriate church leader.
- Close by asking each person to choose one specific application. Begin the next meeting with an optional, brief reflection on practicing it.
A simple weekly application
Write down: What did I learn from Scripture? What do I need to change? What will I do before our next session? Pray for the Lord’s help, then choose a time to follow through. Keep these notes with your handout so you can return to them.
After the final session
Watch the course’s concluding lesson. Review your notes together, thank God for what you have learned, and choose one habit to continue for the next month. Revisit the sessions when you need a reminder.
